Complementary Therapies

Complementary Therapies are supportive treatments that may help alleviate symptoms or improve quality of life but have limited scientific backing for directly treating the core dysfunction of POTS:

  • Epsom Salt Baths: Reported by some patients to ease muscle tension and promote relaxation, but not shown to directly improve orthostatic intolerance.
  • Acupuncture: May help with dizziness, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. Some case studies and TCM practitioners report benefits, but large-scale studies are lacking.
  • Acupressure: Often grouped with acupuncture; anecdotal evidence suggests it may help with nausea or anxiety, but it’s not a primary therapy.
  • Essential Oils, Herbal Remedies, Mindfulness: These can support symptom management but aren’t considered core treatments.
